Friday 10th October in School
Pupils come to school as usual. During the day an Ice-cream van will visit the school, 150 balloons will be released to mark the occasion and there will be face painting for the junior classes. The hand prints of every pupil painted on the senior yard wall will be finished on the day.
Friday evening 10th October
Mass at 7pm in Our Lady and St. Brendan’s celebrated by Bishop Ray Browne
Following Mass our book “Listellick 150 – Lios Léinn an Chnoic” will be launched in the Church
Refreshments and finger-food will be served in the marquee at the Pastoral Centre and afterwards all are welcome to Na Gaeil Clubhouse to chat and reminisce.
Note: Children are welcome to attend the celebrations, however, please be aware that they must be supervised by parents at all times.
Saturday 11th October
School will be open from 12noon to 3pm where roll books from 1864 to the present day will be on display. We will also have a display of photographs. All welcome.
“Listellick 150 - Lios Léinn an Chnoic”
The book will be on sale on the night of the Mass in the Church porches and also in the marquee. It is 248 pages and is a celebration of 150 years of school life in Listellick National School. It looks back on the lives of the pupils who attended school from 1864 to the present day. It also traces the history of education through the years and the story of rural life in the area and includes the roll book lists from 1864 onward. There are lots of photographs and stories from past pupils, teachers and members of the community. The book costs €20. If you can’t make it on the night it will be available in the office from Monday 13th October.
