Activities, Music & Sport

The policy of Listellick National School in relation to sport is based on the old principle of "healthy mind, healthy body". The school has a healthy eating policy and we encourage the children to participate and enjoy all sports. The school has, in the past, availed of outside coaching in the sports of Gaelic Football, Hurling, Rugby, Basketball and Volleyball. Our school teams are involved on a yearly basis in Gaelic Football and Soccer. As a mixed school we involve both boys and girls in these sports.

Children from junior infants to 3rd class travel by bus to Abbeydorney Community Hall for P.E.  Children from 4th to 6th class travel by bus to Cumann Ioseaf hall in Caherslee for P.E.  School tracksuits and runners to be worn.

Children receive Rugby Coaching with trainer Sean Brosnan from Tralee Rugby Club.  During the course of the year 5th and 6th class will take part in Rugby tournaments.

During the school year the children work on their Gaelic Football and Hurling Skills with County Board Coaches.  Boys and girls from 4th to 6th class train regularly with the school and take part in various tournaments and blitzs'.

Irish Dancing is ongoing in the school and classes are held every Wednesday with Honor Flynn.

Tin Whistle and Music lessons are held with Celia Regan for students from 1st to 6th class every Thursday.
